Title: Short Intro of A Newbie frustrated aspiring street photographer
Post by: Jeffrey Chua on October 22, 2013, 12:55 AM
Hi Rangefinder Filipinas!

I would like to formally introduce myself. I am Jeffrey Chua and as mentioned on my subject title, I am a frustrated aspiring street photographer who recently discovered passion over film, street shooting and RFs.

Started off joining the DSLR bandwagon through GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) :-[ , and owning two Olympus DSLRs; At first, I am lost from the different categories and genres of photography, but then, I slowly hooked myself deeper to the grassroots of photography, understanding the basics, using film instead of digital, understanding that photography isn't only applicable to events or fashion and so much more..In the process, I got inspired by the work of famous RF shooters through some photography sites and before I even realize it, I nestled myself on street or candid photography where it made me feel that I could express my passion more.

I could not say I know everything and anything about street photography, rangefinders neither film nor digital shooting but I have taken a short class before with Jay Alonzo, that pushed me to become more creative with my shots. Also, with the help of some good guys that I met on Zone V club, I continually feel motivated to learn more and to sharpen my skills as a photographer.

I hope one day I could shoot with you guys and learn a thing or two more about photography.
Also, I still do not know how to develop films but I am looking forward to have my own darkroom at home so I can do experiments and develop my own prints  :) If someone who is willing to teach me how to do the basics or have a suggestion on a workshop I could learn on, I would very much appreciate it  :D

Currently, I own a Voigtlander Bessa R3a with a 40mm pancake and a Sigma DP2 Merrill, so I could still experiment from both traditional and modern shooting platforms. :)

Thank you again for accepting me here and mabuhay kayo!

Hi Jeff,

Welcome dito sa RF! For sure marami kang matututunan dito, halos lahat dito ay willing to share. Pag may time ka, I suggest na mag drop by ka ng FotoFabrik, dun madalas magkita-kita ang mga members. Just like me before, pumunta lang ako mag-isa, dun ko lang din sila nakikala.

Just don't be afraid na magtanong!
